Lamp lights in the home 🪔

 My home was actually bright with the presence of lamps. 'Diya' or 'vilakku' , we commonly call it. This practice of lighting the diyas in the home is something I encountered from my childhood. How as children we used to enjoy the diwali, this was also one of the common festival celebrated. We call it Karthigai deepam. It's true that we don't get an holiday for this festival but still this brings us a feel of joy while we light the lamp inside our home. I still wonder why this festival is celebrated because like how there are stories for celebrating diwali according to Hindu mythology, there must be a story for this festival too but I have no idea on what is the story because my mind was completely concentrating on lighting the lamp and safeguarding it from the wind. You know, it's really hard to do it because this festival is celebrated during the month of Karthigai , considered to be the eighth month according to Tamil calendar and December month according to Gregorian calendar. December is Christmas time and no wonder it to be cold and rainy. So I had to do a very tough job which I completed it successfully. In that way I am proud of myself. And yes now I also should take efforts to discover the story behind this festival being celebrated. As far as I know, which I wish to share, that Lord shiva, the supreme diety of Hindu Trinity is worshipped during this festival and i also took the moment to worship him for his guidance.  And this festival mainly takes the devotees to 'Thiruvanamalai' place in Tamilnadu which is considered to be the home of Lord shiva. The live telecast of the temple yesterday on the television actually added to the divine presence to me. No festival is completed without the food. My Granny made the puffed rice ladoo ( pori urundai) which she told is the main offering. And as usual her culinary skills made my taste buds wish for more. I wish I soon learn to make that from my granny and see whether I too have the same skills. One thing that made me to start my blog with lamps is that this small thing made out of mud is an extraordinary creation which actually brings in calm and relaxed mindset. I felt that during lighting them. Such a beautiful and great creation given by God to man who makes these lamps. This thought me a small thing will actually have a great impact.
