Drama 🎭🎭

A story said through performance is drama. Drama speaks out the emotions and a story not merely through words but also through actions. Each word can bring out an action. We would have played many role plays in our school days like a doctor, teacher, student etc and many more. Recollect your memory on what you would have played when you were 2 years old or so. We would have been at our playschool so not much homework was given and too young to play street cricket and other games that we would have played when we were at mid school level and higher level , on the streets. Parents won't allow us to move on the streets all alone and we also have to spend the rest of the day because our Playschool will maximum work for 2 to 4 hours that means half day. So to spend most of the time we would make our dad and mom as either students of our class and teach them ABC or make them our patients. Sometimes our Dad has to show his face so that we could apply makeup on them making ourselves as beauticians. Acting starts there. We take up a persona and tend to adapt those roles and their characteristics and make it look in our style. Drama blooms there.

This dramatic tradition was one of the predominant artistic work that existed from classical time and many evolutions, additions and changes it has gone through. Drama evolved in stages.

Also drama had a role in my life too. I had opportunities to act in stories when I was in school. It was like class activity. I played roles like Akbar, then a selfish cop in other drama and also as a doctor who treats a snake bite etc. and many more. Those were basic level experiences for me. The proper play and its methodology I came to learn after coming to the college. I still continued to engage with drama. I had opportunities to enact many plays in my undergraduate. I thought after my UG I may not have a chance to continue that art but today I started to work on dramatics. The same energy, the same attraction and the same vibration that drama has, up to me. I hope that whenever I get a chance to get involved I would try to carry the same aura in me.

There is a lot to talk about the practices, how we start to adapt to a particular character, how do we analyse the character because every character in the story will have a personality like how we in reality do, how we perceive the stage directions because every cue is important in a play, the stage setting and voice projections along with clarity in pronouncing the words etc. and many more are associated to staging a play. Even every space can become a theatre practice space and many research papers have been worked on it too.

I will try to talk about each of them as far as I know in other separate blogs.
