Nostalgic foods

There are certain sweets and chocolates that I had experienced when I was young. One among these is , Poppins about which I have already written on. Apart from this, there are a lot more that I got to have when I was young. Do you remember katcha mango chocolate, which I am not able to see frequently nowadays but i think it is still in the market like poppins. This chocolate would be packed in green colour rapper and the candy itself is in green colour. You get a juicy sweetness when you have it. It used to be like , two chocolates for one rupee which means a candy was 50 paise. Most of the small shops will have this in a plastic box placed in the front itself and we get it if the shopkeeper or we don't have change. I can never forget the taste of it because it always stays as a demand within me and my friends.

How many of you had this? This is popularly called 'tube ice'. You get one stick for 5- 10 rupees. This is basically an ice filled in a pack with colours added to it. They are not good for health because it's ice, if we have it regularly but yes at times it is good, especially during the summer. After having a nice street cricket match, with all the hard work put into bowling and batting strategies, more than playing it takes time for us to collect the ball that falls into neighbours' houses every time. For this interesting match we await summer vacation.

Many more like elantha vadai ( meaning this tamarind sweet) and these honey balls which we call 'thean mittai'. They are always sweet memories and very tasty too.

Do you remember this one rupee packet called 'kids fun'. They taste similar to these corn puffs that we get and this packet costs only one rupee but it will be filled.

The reason that I took this topic today is because my friend after her native trip brought back a sweet that was her memory. It was cube shaped and the taste of eating these balls felt like it was made of roasted gram with ghee on to it. Anything it may be, that was very delicious, slipped easily into my mouth.
