Starring Priyanka Arul Mohan, Rishikanth, Si - hun Baek, Park Hye - jin and many more. The movie was directed by Ra. Karthik and it is released in Netflix. It was a movie with a cast and crew from the Tamil cinema industry and South Korean industry. The movie is about a woman, who from her young age wishes to visit Korea and her desire starts because of a fancy dress competition that she took part in her school where she represented a Queen named Shembavalam who travels to Korea and was also a reason for the Tamil language having greater influence on the Korean language. She enters her dream place but in a trust broken situation and how she survives in that country without knowing anyone, with language barrier, been scammed with fake job offer and does not have any means of survival is the main plot of the movie. What happens to her in the end while she has to return to India after a situation is the climax. I don't want to give out the spoilers. It's a good movie and for me ,personally, I had mixed reviews towards it.
The movie had a feel good plot. The director gave out a great attempt of bringing two different countries together who have connection, influence from olden days and especially currently have a greater connection and gave a good concept. The history part, the research of that was an addition to the movie. I mean, it was nice from the director part to bring that history out and the clipings shown in the movie too was good. Music, also attempted to give out a mix in their lyrics and tune. One fascinating scene was, I am sure by this time most of you would have watched that scene but still telling it indirectly, one of our famous Tamil songs from a famous and favourite music director of our Country will be played by a Korean violinist and that too very genuinely. That was very lovable to watch. It showed how we each other are influenced by each other's art work. While k-pop, k-drama and Korean actors are famous in our place, our artist and art work is also played there I guess and this scene tried to establish that art has no boundaries according to my interpretation. The movie had a mix of emotions like kindness, importance of trust, self identity, self- confidence, decision making, happiness, realisations, dreams that sometimes shatter and many more. One beautiful statement brought out was this " where you think it ends, it begins" and it is quite true to be honest. A collaborative work is actually to be appreciated when it comes to this movie.
The movie though had many scope to be concentrated, lacked on a certain scale which the script actually needed. There were many small things which could be given much more emphasis is what I felt. The mixed of emotions through characters and even the depthness of the character could have been a little concentrated. When the saddened part was given more screen space, their happy life and survival mode could have been given a camera shot. An interesting Indo - Korean attempt was taken but a bit more work on it would have made the movie even more nice.
Made in korea is an emotional rollercoaster attempt, a feel good storyline movie. This was my point of view on the movie. Do watch it as interpretations and likings may differ.
