Friend 😁

Talking with a friend will always make us feel relaxed and happy. Whatever the content may be and in any medium, either through phone or a live conversation, anything, it brings us happiness and pleasant feelings. A friend whom we could trust and who really cares for us. A friend who never make us feel lonely and always stay as our inspiration. They will actually not do anything but only give the proper required space for us to realise who they are and who we are. That's all we would require too.  "செயற்கரிய யாவுள நட்பின் அதுபோல் வினைக்கரிய யாவுள காப்பு." ( Seyarkariya yavula natpin athupol vinaikariya yavula kappu)  A verse from Tirukkural written by Thiruvalluvar, one of the ancient and most valuable text of verses in Tamil literature.  This particular verse is from the verses written on friendship. Thiruvalluvar has dedicated each chapters to each important aspects that a man encounters in the life cycle. This particular verse means that what else is a more se...

My favourite film🍿🎬

Image
Today I actually don't a have perfect content to share so I thought I would talk about the movie 'Tare zameen par' that I took as the reference in the previous blog.  One of my favourite movies which never fails to evoke the same emotion every time as I felt when I saw it for the first time. The movie is around a small boy named Ishaan who is probably around 9 years old. Ishaan makes his parents worry because of his poor academic performance and never takes interest in studying especially his handwriting which is very horrible and it looks upside down. His father has a strict character, like a typical parent who runs behind his work for family's wellbeing and his mother is a homemaker who tries to change Ishaan but fails to succeed. This makes his father to take a decision of changing this boy to a boarding school which leaves the boy in despair. He fears to face everyone and also feels very lonely where at a point shows his loneliness to his parents too making his pa...

Visit to Siruvapuri temple 🦚🙏

'Siruvapuri temple' as it is called as, a temple for Lord Murugan. Lord Murugan, according to Hindu mythology is the second son of Lord Shiva (the supreme deity) and also called as Tamil God ( Tamil kadavul). He is called as Tamil God because of his ancient roots in tamil and most of the devotion songs on him are of pure tamil words.  Lord Murugan is said to be born from the spark of the fire that came out of the third eye of Lord Shiva in order to save the other Gods and the world from the asuras (demons). He was a spark of hope to other Gods. Lord Murugan is a small boy who is known for his bravery, victory and wisdom. And there are stories in the mythology on his youth stage as well as his marriage.  The temple I visited today is well known as siruvapuri murugan temple. Actually a very small temple but the divinity to that place is invaluable. I felt very calm and positive when I entered.  The temple was a little crowded initially but later slowly started to dismiss. I...

Back on track 😎

Hi friends! Back to my blog page. I think you all missed me and my writings! Do tell me if you missed me. For sure I missed this writing session through which I was connected to you all. Of course, my blog page would have been sad too without my visit to it. And here I am back in action 😎.  I apologise for this short break. I had my exams going on so was not able to spend time with writing which I actually missed. But to be honest my continuous writing of blogs actually helped me a little during my exams in structuring the answers and also it encouraged me to be even more continuous in updating my blog which will make me even better than earlier.  How many of you agree that even though we study our portions from the beginning and schedule the syllabus a little earlier, the day before examination, we feel tensed and it would seem like we have a blank mind. I feel that. I am not the person who schedules the syllabus from early. And though I study earlier, the day before the ex...

Two new words 😁😁

Have you ever enjoyed the rain. Of course who wouldn't like rain unless it doesn't disturb our plans. I would love to watch rain. When I was in school I would always like to have rain in the morning, even now I do wish for it, but it was always my school time memory. Not only to me, most of us would have wished for that because that day will be an off. Afternoon rains are special because that's the perfect time for a coffee or tea along with 'samosa' or 'bajji'. That pleasantness is invaluable. Night rains are always cold enough that it gives us a nice sleep unless it's not a heavy one with thunder. I took this rain topic because I always liked that mud smell that comes when it's about to rain or after it rained. You could actually feel the mud and smell the soil. Not only when it rains, you can experience it even after watering the plant or garden. You get that feeling of what we can call it as a hair-raising sensation or goosebumps. Some kind of r...

Be calm 😎

Life gives us a lot of twists and turns. Some may be what we expected and some may not be. Expected may turn out unexpected and the vice versa can happen too. Of course it shouldn't always be the expected one. Sometimes even unexpected might be great like meeting  new friends whom we never know would turn out to be our best we met. Life is adventurous. It takes us to a lot of journeys where we succeed in a few places and tend to learn in a few places. I am a bit philosophical right! Yes I know I am. Today I came up with the word 'nonchalant' . A common word that we would have come across in many places. But this , to be honest, never stayed in my mind. I did come across this word and would have looked at the meaning for that moment. Today I again came across this word and when I asked chatgpt it said that 'a person who is calm, relaxed and unconcerned '. The Google that actually showed me the word defined that 'a person even in a hectic and confused position wo...

Cold day 🤧🤒

Image
Today was a tough day for me. My body is reacting with foreign elements I guess. I had to only take naps today because of the tiredness I had and the cold. Uninvited one but comes perfectly and which has to come. Fever, cold are symptoms that show our body is fighting with foreign elements that may have entered through dust or by other means into our body. So as an act of cleaning the system our cells will prepare to fight. A war will happen inside our body and this will definitely make us tired and feel drowsy. A time where we need to rest and supply our soldiers who are fighting inside with proper food because they are in a war zone so they may need more energy.  This action will help us kill the bacteria inside our body and it tests the immune system of our body which is very important for us both physically and mentally. We should keep ourselves hydrated at this time and eat a healthy diet in order to enhance the strength of the immune system.  As I was comparing th...

Ponniyin Selvan ⚔️🔥

I was talking about the scene in Ponniyin Selvan in yesterday's writing and today I got to see the movie on TV. And when I read yesterday's blog I got to see that around two passages I have written about a scene from this movie. Directed by one of my favourite directors, Mani Ratnam. I can actually keep speaking about his master pieces always.  Ponniyin Selvan is a historical fiction written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy on the setting of the Chola Dynasty, the powerful rule of the South. They were known for their war strategies, development of trade and war through sea routes, development in Architectures of temples and many more. They spread the shaivaite way following that is people who follow Lord Shiva. The Book is based on an internal conflict and using that they face war outside. Not a complete historical text but has some fictional characters involved in the story. The Book is actually of five parts and it was released in episodes in the Tamil magazine initially.  Thi...

The Book Exhibition 📚📚

Lakhs of knowledge was at a place. Fiction, non fiction, autobiographies, biographies, drama and many more were arranged in each stall. There were around 600 - 900 stalls and every one of them was filled with books. Books of all kinds and for every age group, from kids to old age. I am talking about the Chennai book fair and I visited it yesterday. My eyes were glittering like how would it be when I see treasure in front of me. In the Film Ponniyin Selvan - 1, which is actually a historical fiction written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy and it was taken as a film by director Mani Ratnam, there is a scene where Vanthiyathevan ( done by actor Karthi) will meet Nandhini ( played by Aishwarya Rai ) and there the former has to escape from the place they meet, so he will get through a underground passage. Nandhini will help him to get through the passage and before the door closes, for seconds Vanthiyathevan will get mesmerized in the Beauty of nandhini, because she is known for her beauty. She wi...

The lazy me 🫠

Procrastination, laziness, next time, avoidance, forgot and phrases like "I can't do it" , "should I do it now?" and etc. are words and statements that always teaches us in life. My day of laziness let me miss a treasure. I am talking about not uploading my blog yesterday.  When I started to write blogs, one thing that I told myself was that even though I may not have solid content, I should write. In that way I thought I could improve my writing skills, take a step to learn even more and also see how my mind thinks and observes, the self observation thing, I could witness it.  Yesterday I started to write my blog and my topic was about observation that we do around us. It was an activity or can be called as a fun game that we played in our theatre practice. It was a part of the warm up session in theatre which will help us to analyse minute details of a play and a stage as well as to expand our mind in thinking about the play and its story. Because , I would h...

Drama 🎭🎭

A story said through performance is drama. Drama speaks out the emotions and a story not merely through words but also through actions. Each word can bring out an action. We would have played many role plays in our school days like a doctor, teacher, student etc and many more. Recollect your memory on what you would have played when you were 2 years old or so. We would have been at our playschool so not much homework was given and too young to play street cricket and other games that we would have played when we were at mid school level and higher level , on the streets. Parents won't allow us to move on the streets all alone and we also have to spend the rest of the day because our Playschool will maximum work for 2 to 4 hours that means half day. So to spend most of the time we would make our dad and mom as either students of our class and teach them ABC or make them our patients. Sometimes our Dad has to show his face so that we could apply makeup on them making ourselves as be...

Sunday time

Today is sunday. A mundane one for me. As usual I woke up this morning very late after a nice and peaceful sleep. Then somehow I forced myself out of the bed. Had a great lunch and I was watching 'Idly kadai', a Tamil movie directed by Dhanush who is a renowned actor and he was the protagonist of this film. I already watched this film and today I watched it for the second time. A nice message was delivered in the film and the locations and cinematography of them were the ones I actually liked the most about the film. Certain things I found not acceptable in the content but at last the ultimate content is very true. We never realise how important family is and we leave our parents alone for running behind money. We earn a lot to make them happy but actually we make them unhappy by leaving them thinking that money is much needed. Of course, money is important for survival needs but we should know how much it is needed and how to manage the professional and personal life. But ...

A new snack 😋

Image
'Javvarisi' is called Sago in English. I am not so sure how they are actually made or extracted, etc or anything except the name and the taste . Mostly known in South India and they use this to make upma ( that has a nickname, the bachelors briyani) or payasam ( a sweet). At some houses they prepare a paste kind of thing and dry them under the sun so that it becomes like a papad that we call fryums. It is fried in the oil and that makes a perfect side dish for rasam rice. They make that mash at my home and that will be delicious actually. I finish bowls of it. My Granny is a specialist in making that. I don't think they sell the paste itself in shops but the dried ones are certainly available. You have to ask them as javvarisi vadam. Both fried in the oil and the unfried are available at shops. If you visit T Nagar in Chennai you can definitely get it. But at my home they don't buy it as I already said, my granny is specialist in preparing it.  At the shop they make it...

Poppins 🍬

Image
"Poppins " How many of you know this chocolate! One of the famous chocolates that I have been seeing since my childhood. The first is its attractive colours of the candy. It's a small packet consisting of around 10 candies in one packet that are about the size of a 50paise coin. But that small one when you toss it into your mouth will give a refreshing energy and it's also very tasty. This candy was a discovery of the Parle company and that once has its brand sustaining well in the market. They are very low cost candies and were also not that harmful. They were made out of sugar. And it also had a healthy competition when it was developed in the market. Mainly kids were attracted to it. I as a kid, also loved it and now I still have that little craze left in me. My daddy loves it very much.  One interesting thing is this candy at that time was advertised through children's magazines like Tinkle , Chanda mama etc. They were amazing magazines meant exclusively for ...

Living text 🗞️📰

Newspapers are considered to be 'living texts'. I got to hear this term from my professor Dr Samuel Rufus sir today. I felt that is true. We turn to literatures, trace the development of it and their history, to books that are heavy etc, but the newspaper is something that is an active documentor which states the past , conveys the present and also tries to lay the futuristic perspective. It takes us through various platforms and tries to convey what's happening around us.  Both words and pictures speak in this documentation. There is a famous proverb, 'a pen is mighter than a sword'. Newspaper is led by the pen I believe. That pen tries to project all the genres and information to us right! When we read a newspaper we would actually find that we will get introduced to not only facts and information but also to many new words. That one particular word in a particular article would try to convey the idea as possible as it can. An aphoristic style. In that we will kn...

Saint Thyagaraja 🎻

Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are called the supreme trinity Gods in Hindu mythology. Similar in other mythologies too this Archetype of Number 3 is present. This is also applied in carnatic music, the classical and base of music. Thyagaraja, Muthuswamy dhikshitar and Shyama sastrigal are three legends and considered as trinity in carnatic music. There is a lot to talk about these geniuses but today I want to share about the one among them, the most famous one, Thyagaraja.  Today I wanted to speak about him because today it is 'Thyagaraja aradhana'. 'Aradhana' is a Sanskrit term meaning devotion, worship or adoration ( as Google says), an act towards the God or saint. Today 7th January 2026, is celebrated as Thyagaraja aradhana and all the carnatic singers would definitely sit and sing the songs composed by Thyagaraja. He is a great devotee of Lord Rama ( avatar of Vishnu) and it is said that he had the blessings of having seen Lord Ram. He was such a great devotee that he ...

Birthday of a star 🥳

6th January,   Today is the birthday of one of my favourite music directors, A R Rahman a well renowned Indian music director who has won two Oscar awards for his excellency in composition. This man's history always stunnes me. Through his hardwork, dedication to the passion and consistency in his efforts he proved himself to the world. That is shown in the results too. He was actually denied education and sent off from the school for not being active in studies. Facing a lot of hardships in his life, his goal to achieve his passion never left him. He was stubborn in chasing his dreams. That stubbornness is much needed for us right. He discovered possible outcomes and was constantly trying to face the challenges. He never gave up his passion. Not much support he could win but the greatest support that he had by his side was from his mother. His father too was a music director but not a renowned one. He lost his father at a young age, being the only son along with two sisters, ...

The word of the day

Today I came across this word called 'senescence'. This word means the process of becoming old. That is the stage of old age life. As soon as I saw this word the first thing that came to my mind is the poem that is prescribed for me, that is Rabbi Ben Ezra by Robert Browning. Not yet gone through the full poem but the first stanza which was taught in class for me and the stanza begins about glorifying the old age stage.  When I asked chatgpt about the word (I wanted to consider its opinion too), it said to me that generally using this word will not be on a positive note because this word means the declining of age, vitals and the strength that is possessed.  It's true that when we become old we tend to lose the energy that we had as young. But the mental power of the old people never declines. You become wiser as you grow old right. Old age is actually a beautiful stage of life and that one can learn a lot of experience and knowledge from them. They may not be the most k...

Sunday outing 🛕🛕

Have you visited the Kabaleeshwarar temple that is in Mylapore ? A temple of excellence and magnanimity. The temple was very divine and gave a positive vibration when I entered today. I went in the morning and that mild sunlight with the chillness still present around, a perfect time to visit a huge temple like that. Ambal ( the female deity) was ready and fully fresh to give us blessings by the time we went to the temple. Yes ! She is the head of the house right so obviously she will be quick enough and yes on the other hand I think she was too excited to meet me especially 😉. Lord Shiva , the main deity of the temple was seated beside. Lord shiva will always suggest his devotees to first worship his wife Goddess Parvati and then to come to him. Like his orders I first went to see Ambal ( common name used to address Parvati. Goddess Parvati has many names according to her avatar in  Hindu mythology ), then I took blessings from Lord Shiva, whom I never miss to worship da...

The Moon 🌝🌝

Today is a full moon day. The first full moon day of the year. Actually the moon today looked very beautiful in the sky. The dark background and big white dot on it along with a few white dots beside. I meant the stars beside.  It looked like a painting. This scene should be actually painted rather than taking a photo. Both differ right!  The moon was calm and composed, had its soothing presence and shining bright in the dark sky. I had a perfect view from my balcony. It was so bright that its rays entered through my balcony. Such a beauty created by God shining brightly in the sky. I am not a selenophile but today I felt exceptional. I admired its presence today because it was such that it gave a blissful surrounding and suggested calmness to me too. The white bright light along with the pleasant breeze today gave me a new kind of happiness. I saw the moon when I returned from the temple along with my daddy today and that short distance of walk from the temple to my hom...

Bye - bye holidays 🥲🥲

Two more days, and the holidays will be done for me. I had a nice break after a long time and it was quite relaxing and enjoyable for me. This break was much needed and that I had time to spend for myself.  I didn't have much to accomplish during these holidays but still I enjoyed being at home. Yes, I dedicated my time for writing blogs and house cleaning things but academically I didn't spend much time. I spent these days tasting delicious food, trying to arrange things at home, watching movies and series and doing one of my favourite habits that is having a nice sleep. Thankfully my family didn't take much effort in waking me up early because I was on holidays.  And from monday the classes will start for me and that I have to compulsorily allocate some time for academics too. In one way if this holiday gave me happiness on the other hand surely once I start scheduling for my studies even that will excite me. At last it's in my hands to make it fun right! I hope I wi...

Near - synonyms

I was scrolling through the reels in the evening and somehow I came across these three words - Gorgeous, stunning and adorable. All have the same purpose that is to describe the beauty. But when I started to search for the exact meaning of each of these words, it had separate definitions. They can be categorised to be as near - synonyms. Near-synonyms are words that have similar root meanings but differ according to usage and context. Chat gpt gave me this word and it's definition.  I know that these words have similar meaning but I wanted to know in what context they are used and can they be used interchangeably. Actually they cannot be used, was the answer for the question. Though they describe beauty and are used in the context of positivity, still their intensity differs a lot. Stunning is a word used to describe an awestruck moment and something more extraordinary. Gorgeous is a term used to describe a strong attraction and a kind of pleasing sense involved. The term adorable ...
